Historically, golf instruction has been always been run from a male viewpoint. Because ladies are different, both in physical and psychological aspects, look for a golf instruction program that presents golf from a woman’s perspective.

The first lessons should be designed for women who have very little knowledge about the game. These lessons should cover such fundamentals as the object of the game, how to keep score, proper equipment, etiquette on the golf course, appropriate clothing to wear on a golf course, the rules of golf, and definitions of golf terms.

The lessons that would follow in a golf instruction program designed for ladies should then explain such concepts as stance, set-up, pre-shot routines, and how the club impacts the ball. Drills in basic skills should also be included.

If you have a specific course that you are interested in learning how to play, then you should call the golf pro at the course and ask about partnering up with some of the regulars. When you play with them, watch the places that they avoid or aim for. However, if you are interested in learning how to play any golf course, then you should talk to a golf pro or golf coach about some ways to think around a golf course. In general, you want to stay away from trouble and aim for angles to the pin that will increase your chance of hitting something close. additionally, you should focus on maintaining a consistent, smooth swing regardless of where you are on the course. Stay positive and be patient, then you will be able to play any course.

All golf courses are unique. Some are very flat and have lots of bunkers. Others have tree-lined fairways and water hazards. They may have rolling hills or the greens may be very small. No matter what course you play, you’ll be much more likely to score well if you know how to manage the golf course.

Whether it is a par 3, par 4 or par 5 hole, placing your first shot in the right place will enhance your ability to get a par or better. Good position for your second shot, be it a putt, short wedge to the green or long iron shot, will give you a better chance to get close to the hole. Avoid taking bold risks (can you really hit it 250 yards to clear the lake?) and be willing to lay up for an easier next shot. You’ll avoid double bogeys and probably lower your overall score.

If you are having difficulty with your golf swing, take time to watch how the pros do it. Imitate their moves and practice your swing without actually hitting a ball. Look at where you might place a ball and practice skimming the grass with your club as you swing. This will allow you to get comfortable with your swing before trying to hit a ball. Once you have mastered the swing, try hitting a few balls.

Another way to practice your swing is to go to a driving range. Purchase a bucket of balls and hit to your heart’s content. You can practice driving off the tee or hitting balls with various clubs. Before you know it, you will be confident and ready take your skills to the golf course.

Golf is the sport where you can spend a lifetime of learning and never master it, but while some players spend their entire careers on the golf course in frustration, others find improvement quickly. Why?

The difference is in the mental approach to the game. When trying to get the perfect golf swing, many players do exactly the wrong thing and just put in more and more time into practice, when in reality, they need to ‘unlearn’ their bad habits.

Practicing a bad golf swing for hours on end only makes your bad swing more permanent. Taking a mental approach to learn a better technique first and practice that, is the only way to master your swing.

A private golf lesson with the golf pro at your local course could really move your game to the next level. Maybe it would even take a few points off your game? With a private golf lesson, you get personalized service with a professional giving you their undivided attention. You can make sure that you focus on your weak points instead of what everyone else is having trouble with in a group lesson. If you’re having problems with your short game, spend the entire session on the putting green. If you’re having trouble hitting it on the green, extend your time on the driving range. The golf pro could take the lesson to the golf course, if you want more general instruction.

Reading books on how to improve your golf game can be helpful, but there is really no substitute for a demonstration from a pro. Taking a private lesson at your local golf course can be quite costly, so many golfers opt to take a video golf lesson as a way to take strokes off their game.

When you are able to see what is being explained, it is much easier to replicate the technique yourself. A video golf lesson can be taken in the privacy of your home. In addition, golfers can focus on the parts of their golf game that need the most attention and replay those demonstrations over and over.
