While most of us break our golf swing down to its finest components, most of us do not pay enough attention to golf swing tempo. Think of golf swing tempo as the glue that holds all of those moving pieces together. If tempo is off, even good technique results in poor drives. In fact, most advanced instruction focuses on golf swing tempo more than any other aspect.
If you have inconsistencies in your golf swing, chances are the problem is with tempo. Seek an instructor to help you out with this. They can define a cadence that you can practice. Then, just as you have spent hours practicing the component techniques, you must practice the cadence to ensure that it all works together in one fluid motion. You’ll be amazed at the dramatic improvement this has on your swing.

The most common mistake of amateur golfers is straightening the arms too soon in the swing. This move results from a golf swing that?s started by the muscles of the arms and the upper body, making it almost impossible to store energy. Any power gained in the backswing is lost.
Instead, create a golf swing that’s started with an opposite rotation of the core of the body, and an opposing weight-shift with your feet. Keep the right elbow tucked in, and build an extreme angle between the clubshaft and the right forearm. Rotate your hips in the opposite direction, away from your backswing. Keep your arms loose, and start your downswing by shifting your weight to your forward heel. This ?opposing lag? stores power for the forward swing.

If you are having difficulty with your golf swing, take time to watch how the pros do it. Imitate their moves and practice your swing without actually hitting a ball. Look at where you might place a ball and practice skimming the grass with your club as you swing. This will allow you to get comfortable with your swing before trying to hit a ball. Once you have mastered the swing, try hitting a few balls.
Another way to practice your swing is to go to a driving range. Purchase a bucket of balls and hit to your heart’s content. You can practice driving off the tee or hitting balls with various clubs. Before you know it, you will be confident and ready take your skills to the golf course.

Having a strong golf swing is the key to getting your score down on the course. When you are setting yourself up for a swing, make sure that you are standing with your legs shoulder width apart. As you grip the club, set yourself slightly forward focus your eyes on the ball. When you bring the club up, concentrate on keeping your position as you draw the club up over your head. Bring it up until is placed overhead similar to a waiter positioning a tray and then carry it back down, never taking your gaze off of the ball. As you strike the ball, do not pull up or you will miss it completely. Your last job is to carry on through the follow through.

As for a brief instruction, think of a golf swing like a story line. It has a start, a middle and a finish. The difference is, a story line starts by going forward, and a golf swing starts by going back. The club head goes back, away from the ball, and that starts the circle of the swing.
The most important part in the middle of a story, is the transition to the ending. The better this happens, the better the story moves along. The transition in a golf swing is certainly that point at the top of the arc. A good way to check this is on video, or by swinging with the sun at your back, and watching your shadow.
Every golf instruction tells us to finish with our hips square to the hole. There’s nothing hard to understand about this, but a lot of golfers short the ending. Let the story play out, all the way, and it will be better all around.

A lot of people like to talk about how they improved their golf game or how they enjoyed a certain product. I, however, just have to talk about one of the worst golf swings I’ve ever taken. I was on a par 5 with a dog leg to the right. My initial drive had taken me to just before the bend in the fairway. It’s a pretty open hole without any trees. I figured that I would just hit it across the rough directly toward the hole. Unfortunately, I swung poorly. My golf ball sliced hard, hit the golf cart, thumped my friend in the back of the head, and he was out like a light! Talk about an embarrassing emergency room visit. That was one bad golf swing.

Recently, I broke down and ordered one of those golf swing videos that you see advertised all the time on late-night television and in golf magazines. First of all, it took almost two weeks for it to arrive. That’s strike one. Secondly, it wasn’t compatible with Blu Ray, so I had to watch it on my computer. Strike two. And when I was finally watching the instruction on “How To Better Your Golf Swing,” it was not a particularly good quality video. Throw in the fact that the guy on there looked like he was straight out of the early eighties, and we arrive at strike three. Granted, this was just one lame golf swing video. But be sure to get a video that’s returnable if you decide to try it out yourself.

While golf is a fun sport to play outdoors with friends, it takes a lot of practice and lessons to master. Unfortunately, most people do not have the time or money to get lessons from a golf pro. For these people, online golf lessons may be their best option.
Online golf lessons are often much cheaper than live lessons, but often lead to just as positive results. Online golf lessons vary significantly. Some versions of these lessons require a player to film themselves live while they are swinging a golf club, while a golf professional will watch and critique their swing.
Through online lessons, a golf pro will also provide the player with various workouts and training regiments which will help the golfer gain strength and improve their golf swing.

If your goal is to improve at golf, then you need to begin with the basics. The golf swing has many different parts and they all have to be working together to produce the proper result. That is why golf instruction for your backswing is such a big thing. If you have a takeaway that is too fast or you start off taking the club back on a poor plane, then there is little that you can do to improve the swing before making contact.
Golf instruction for your backswing will help you understand the ideas of timing and tempo. With this knowledge in hand, it becomes easy for golfers to make more consistent contact and put up the types of scores that they are looking for. You should concentrate on not making the game of golf so hard, because it’s really just a game of fundamentals.
