Having a strong golf swing is the key to getting your score down on the course. When you are setting yourself up for a swing, make sure that you are standing with your legs shoulder width apart. As you grip the club, set yourself slightly forward focus your eyes on the ball. When you bring the club up, concentrate on keeping your position as you draw the club up over your head. Bring it up until is placed overhead similar to a waiter positioning a tray and then carry it back down, never taking your gaze off of the ball. As you strike the ball, do not pull up or you will miss it completely. Your last job is to carry on through the follow through.

Your backswing is normally the cause of your ball going in the wrong direction. The process starts with your stance, which should have your legs shoulder-width apart and with your knees slightly bent. Your shoulders should be squared over the ball with your torso slightly tilted forward. Your grip should be secure, but loose enough for wrist movement. Your swing should come back in an arc, bringing the club over head straight and flat, like holding a tray. As you swing back through, keep your eye on the ball and bring the club square to it, continuing through the arc. Any change in position with throw it off. If you stay in stance, relaxed and focused on the ball, this golf instruction for your backswing will keep it on track.

The speed of of your backswing in golf isn’t as important as its smoothness. If you rush your backswing, you could lose your balance, and that will throw everything off.

Here are the main golf instruction steps to make your backswing effective:
Position your feet shoulder width apart, and lean forward slightly. Snugly hold the club, not too tightly. Turning your hands clockwise, move your golf club until its shaft is parallel to the ground. Your left knee moves toward the right one. The golf club should be as high as your hip. Your back then progresses toward the ball. Keep your weight on the inside of your right knee. Swing your hands upward and over your right shoulder. Where your shoulder goes, your hips will follow. As you move, your left foot should roll inward.
