Before Tiger Woods made golf popular with people under fifty, the sport had a hard time garnering respect. Rarely did you ever hear the words “golfer” and “athlete” in the same sentence, for instance. Things are different now, however. The pros spend as much time in the gym these days laying the foundations for their phenomenal golf swing speed as they do on the course.
Keep this in mind as you grumble in frustration as yet another of your shots virtually dies on the tee. If you want to increase your golf swing speed, it’s a matter of physics. You need to increase the strength of your upper body, as well as your core. Doing so will enable you to give that ball the boost it needs to skim toward the hole.

Setting realistic goals is something that every golfer should set out to do. You want to improve, but you can’t be expecting too much. With that in mind, is it possible to have the perfect golf swing? Some might say that eventually you can master the swing, but evidence suggests otherwise. No matter how hard you work and how long your practice, the perfect golf swing might be out of reach.
Take Tiger Woods for example, as he is a player that is constantly tweaking and re-tweaking his swing. Even when he had won multiple majors, Tiger got a new swing coach and dedicated himself to a new approach. This shows that you can always get better and that if you keep working, there are new levels that you can reach.

One of the easiest ways to get your score under par is to take some lessons on your golf swing. In fact, any golfer you’ve ever heard of has taken a golf swing lesson or three. Do you think the pros got to their level by being born that good? Even athletes with a natural talent for golf require a weekly (or daily) lesson when they are first starting out. Tiger Woods is a perfect example. It took years of lessons before he finally perfected that swing which has served him so well on courses like Pebble Beach or Spook Rock. When you’re finally tired of making double bogeys, don’t be afraid of getting a little professional help with your swing.

Different players out on the PGA tour get by with different tempos. For some guys, like Ernie Els, it looks like they aren’t swinging hard at all. Others, like Tiger Woods, look to be swinging with much more speed. So what golf swing speed will work for you? This really depends upon the other parts of your swing and just how comfortable you are.
The best thing to remember about golf swing speed is that you don’t have to swing out of your shoes. You will be much better off if you practice swinging slowly and work your way up from there. The biggest mistake that a young player can make is thinking that golf swing speed determines your success. You’ll be much better off with something that’s slow and comfortable, because your swing will be more consistent that way.
