Golf is one of the most complex sports that one can take up; easy to pick up, but close to impossible to master. For many people, improving at the game of golf is a life goal. It’s fine to spend some time watching how-to DVD’s that show how the pros swing and putt and get out of sand-traps. Sure, you can get some valuable information. But the time will come when you will need to find yourself a guru, a golf swing trainer who can take you from couch potato appreciation to practical learning. How do you find a good golf swing trainer? The best way is to consult friends or your local golf pro, people who can determine who the most competent golf swing trainer is in your area. Then it’s up to you: make that phone call.

Before Tiger Woods made golf popular with people under fifty, the sport had a hard time garnering respect. Rarely did you ever hear the words “golfer” and “athlete” in the same sentence, for instance. Things are different now, however. The pros spend as much time in the gym these days laying the foundations for their phenomenal golf swing speed as they do on the course.

Keep this in mind as you grumble in frustration as yet another of your shots virtually dies on the tee. If you want to increase your golf swing speed, it’s a matter of physics. You need to increase the strength of your upper body, as well as your core. Doing so will enable you to give that ball the boost it needs to skim toward the hole.

Some people believe that they were born out of time. Some would rather have lived their prime during the rockin’ 50s or, perhaps, played on Scottish greens during the birth of the game. That is not the case with me. I am exactly where I was meant to be. As a golfer, I can’t imagine not having all of this technology at my disposal. When I can’t watch a full golf match, it’s not a problem. Between TiVo, ESPN and all of the golf video on YouTube, I miss nothing. Then I consider all of the instructional golf video I have used. I watch instructional golf video on DVD, on demand through my cable provider, and on YouTube. It’s golf heaven. Why would I want to be anywhere else?

Recently, I broke down and ordered one of those golf swing videos that you see advertised all the time on late-night television and in golf magazines. First of all, it took almost two weeks for it to arrive. That’s strike one. Secondly, it wasn’t compatible with Blu Ray, so I had to watch it on my computer. Strike two. And when I was finally watching the instruction on “How To Better Your Golf Swing,” it was not a particularly good quality video. Throw in the fact that the guy on there looked like he was straight out of the early eighties, and we arrive at strike three. Granted, this was just one lame golf swing video. But be sure to get a video that’s returnable if you decide to try it out yourself.

Next time you decide you need a new book for golf, you should consider buying “Bobby Jones on Golf”. Jones was one of the greatest players of all time and his book is really fantastic. It may be very old, but the knowledge contained inside is still as relevant as ever. I can’t personally think of a better book for golf to recommend, and I think it’s arguably the greatest golfing tome ever written. It’s especially good for beginners, because Jones had such great fundamentals. Learning from books is one of the best ways to study the game of golf, and it’s a good idea to buy a few of the classics.

The best places I have found to find help in golf to improve my golf skills are online and in books. There are dozens of websites catering to all different levels and techniques in golf, many with videos and photos that make it really easy to understand and practice. I’ve also bought books about gold and found them to be useful because they take the time to really explain the help in golf that I need. These books tend to have lots of clear, instructive photos that help illustrate how I can improve my game. In the past, I’ve gotten these books either from the library or, if I find one in particular especially helpful, I’ll buy it from a bookstore or online so I always have it on hand when I need help in golf. Both websites and books have made me better at golf and therefore increased my enjoyment.

Spending time in such a relaxing and scenic environment while playing a game and being with friends is a great experience. If you don’t play golf, then you should seriously consider talking it up. At first I thought I could fix the problem on my own, but as time went on, I realized I might need someone or something to help cure my slice. The worst part is that it was always happening at the worst times. If you play golf, I’m certain you can relate.

I tried certain clubs with good workability, but they didn’t do the trick. Their designs were too advanced for me and more for the higher caliber player. Finally, I took the opposite approach and went with a bigger clubhead that offers a lot more forgiveness. I didn’t exactly cure my slice, by certainly made an improvement. Once I figure it out, I’m sure I’ll start hooking the ball.
